"Mamas" over Charlottesville, VA

Mammatus (mama) Clouds (downward lumpy clouds) observed 8/25/07 on back-sheared Anvil of nearby SVR on 8/25/07. These clouds indicate extreme turbulence but are not dangerous or produce severe weather. However, Mamas observed before bad weather along with a cool gust front usually indicates a severe thunderstorm is approaching!
